This item fits model D4C, D3C, D3A, D2A, *D2, and *D. On the model D4C and D3C, you must have the original R1976 spider that came standard for this to fit correctly.
On March 28th 2002, Rexair discontinued production of this item and also the matching R1976 spider. If you have the model D3C, or D4 (Non-SE version), this separator uses the H524 separator nut.
If you need to replace both separator and spider, then you would order item numbers R4100 separator, R4101 spider, and H555 nut. These three items are a direct replacement and also an improvement.
The separator separates the air from the water. The water is thrown back into the water pan, and it allows clean air to go up through the motor and out the exhaust. Be sure to take off and clean periodically, as it can become clogged with dirt and will reduce your performance.
If you have a plastic separator that does not have a metal band around the outside edge, at some point the separator may break into pieces during use. The metal band was added to prevent this issue from occurring.
*NOTE: The model D2 and D came standard with the bolt design separator nut. This motor version used a different spider, but this separator is also the match.
