The AquaWet solution was designed to help reduce the surface friction of the water and allow "non-wettable" substances to be absorbed. These particles include drywall dust, wood ash, baby powder, etc.
One cap-full per two quarts of water is all that is needed.
With the increased ability for the water to trap dirt, the inside of the motor stayed clean while reducing particles from escaping into the air.

"Works great for softening water without foaming in the basin. Makes fragrances last a little longer and helps the water capture fine dust so it doesn't end up in the fans and hepa filter. I use it when cleaning very dusty carpets."

"AquaWet helps reduce the tension of the water in the Rainbow basin making it easier for non-“wetable” debris to accept the effects of getting wet and being retained in the water bath. Some debris like fireplace ash, talcum powder, and sheet rock dust can bounce off the water and enter the air stream. AquaWet helps reduce this non-wetting action, breaking the tension of the debris to accept the water drowning. If any of these debris items make it into the air stream, the HEPA filter will catch them allowing only clean air to exit the Rainbow. I always add AquaWet to the water basin in case I unknowingly encounter such debris."
